The History Society was formed in 2010 when we applied for a Heritage Lottery Fund grant for a three year project called the Sessay Archive. Focussing on the 1911 census and the ensuing 100 years of village life, research by enthusiasts throughout the parish led to a very successful exhibition in 2011, and a wonderful Edwardian garden party in 2012.  In 2013 we staged our very own TimeTeam special with dozens of volunteers involved in a 'geophys' survey to uncover traces of the medieval village.
We are currently writing a book 'Essays from Sessay', due to be published in 2015, which will feature all the information we have gathered about the history of the village, and some of the fantastic photographic record that has been unearthed.  Lottery funding will by then have been exhausted, and the plan is to relaunch the society with a subscription-based membership and a fresh range of activities and meetings.
The Sessay Archive website continues to be updated with new information and photos of past and present events and we are grateful for any contributions that may be of interest.
The website can be visited at :        www.sessayarchive.co.uk
