Ahead of the launch of the official competition to design a new community hub, the children of Sessay School have put down their own plans for the facility.

At 10pm on the evening of the 4th August 2014 about 40 people gathered around the old village cross in the churchyard at St. Cuthbert’s Church in Sessay. It was a beautiful summers evening, with a clear sky, balmy atmosphere and owls hooting quietly overhead.

Sessay CC won a dramatic final-run victory against the trophy holders to advance to the next round of the National Village Knockout competition.  Opponents Cleator (in Cumbria) had defeated us heavily at their own ground last season, and gone on to lift the national title at Lords, so the expectation was for a difficult test.

The roof to the lych-gate at St Cuthbert's church, Sessay has now been restored to its full glory.

Residents of Sessay and Hutton Sessay attended a design workshop recently to consider what new facilities are needed in the community for sports and recreation in the future.
